Middlesex Board approves consent, personnel, education, policy and finance items; several abstentions recorded

The Middlesex Borough School District Board of Education approved multiple consent and action items during its public meeting after motions from committee chairs and the superintendent.

Superintendent staff presented the minutes and the agenda items grouped by committee. The board moved to approve the meeting minutes (item 5.01) and then considered committee recommendations across personnel (items 9.01–9.13), education (items 11.01–11.14), policy (items 12.01 and 12.03) and facilities and finance (items 14.01–14.09). The superintendent consistently recommended approval "as presented." A motion and second were recorded for each slate and the roll calls produced affirmative votes sufficient to approve the items.

Notable recorded abstentions and recusals on personnel and finance actions included: Missus Ferranti (abstained on personnel item 9.12 number 5), Missus Bantry (recused from 9.03 number 1), Mister Perry (abstained on 9.12 number 5), Missus Quinn (abstained on 9.12 number 5 and abstained on facilities item 14.1 because she was on the bills list) and Missus Reynolds (abstained on 9.12 number 5). On the education slate, Missus Gwen recorded an abstention on 11.11 for Gary Brenner. Other board members answered "yes" during roll calls when asked.

The meeting record shows the board followed standard roll-call procedure when members indicated abstentions or recusal; items were approved as presented following those recorded votes. The board then moved to adjourn.
