Trophy Club CCPD board unanimously elects officers, reviews budget and meeting rules

The Trophy Club Crime Control and Prevention District board met Nov. 19 and unanimously elected Christine as president, Royce as vice president and Julie as secretary for one‑year terms.

The action came early in the meeting after members briefly honored departing board member Leo Daniels for eight years of service. The meeting chair called the vote after nominations and seconds and announced it was unanimous.

The vote matters for governance more than policy: speakers reiterated the CCPD’s role in overseeing a portion of local sales tax revenue dedicated to public safety. A staff presenter said CCPD receives roughly a quarter of one cent of the town’s sales tax receipts and that the board’s remit includes funding training, personnel, equipment, capital projects and community safety programs.

Speakers reviewed board mechanics and timing: CCPD terms and renewals were described as having gone through two five‑year renewals and one 20‑year renewal, with the next election noted as 2042. The fiscal year runs Oct. 1–Sept. 30; the board is required to meet at least three to four times a year, often holding additional budget workshops to vet spending before formal votes. A quorum is four of seven members.

On budget figures, staff corrected an older slide and said the district’s annual budget has risen above a repeated $360,000 figure to about $420,000; the board was said to have authority to spend approximately $400,000 with a growing fund balance and substantial reserves to tap as needed.

The board also approved the previous meeting’s minutes unanimously and noted one outstanding board vacancy that town council is working to fill.
