Board member Miss Henderson introduced the item, explaining the board needed to re‑adopt the rate after a prior related item did not pass and proposed the specific line‑item rates. "We're proposing the $6.07 $6.09 for maintenance and operations and 0.09 for interest in sinking, for a total of point 7669," Miss Henderson said as the proposal was presented.
Miss Garnell moved to adopt the rate, stating the figure represented roughly a 3.26% change; the motion was seconded and discussed briefly for numeric clarification. Board members confirmed the rate under consideration (0.7669) is lower than the rate approved on Aug. 18 (0.7812), in part because some district debt had been paid off. One board member asked whether it was acceptable to vote before official county election results were posted; staff reported they had checked with county personnel and were advised it was acceptable to proceed.
The board voted by voice and the presiding officer announced the motion carried, 7–0.
The meeting then moved to the next agenda item.
