Sedgwick County Treasurer Brandy Bailey told the commission on Dec. 2 that the county mailed more than 265,000 tax bills this year and that the aggregate tax roll across jurisdictions is roughly $917 million, an increase of about $62–63 million from last year.
Bailey said the county had collected about $14 million through Nov. 26, representing roughly 2% of the total roll at that point in the early payment cycle. She emphasized that the tax roll figure includes all taxing jurisdictions — county, cities, school districts and special districts — and that the county distributes collections to about 103 separate taxing authorities.
Commissioners pressed staff on online access and clarity for taxpayers. One commissioner asked whether parcel‑level forms could be available without personal names; Bailey said she is working with the clerk and the appraiser to develop a one‑stop online portal that would allow residents to view tax information, parcel details and related documents, and that staff will continue improving GIS postings once finalized budget figures are available.
Bailey said some historic and technical pages (RNR information) were temporarily removed to avoid confusion but can be restored on the county budget page if the commission wants them available. Commissioners requested that WSU Tech’s 1.5 mill levy and the voter‑approved aging mill levy be shown clearly on online tax breakdowns; staff said those requests are being discussed.
