The Octorara Area School District board approved personnel and policy actions at its meeting.
Following a personnel committee review, the board approved Act 93 salary adjustments effective Jan. 1, 2026, for administrators named in the meeting: John Proper — $150,000; Chris Schultz — $130,000; Rob Zettley — $140,000; Brenton Brady — $105,000; James Durbarrow — $105,000; and Greg Fantazzi — $111,000. A personnel committee member said the adjustments addressed underpayment in some administrative positions and aimed to improve retention.
Separately, the board approved an adjustment to Jill Hardy’s salary to $78,191.88 effective Jan. 1, 2026. The board accepted resignations with regret: Sarah Kluge (school counselor; effective date to be determined), Sherry Filo Filoromo (instructional assistant; retirement effective 12/23/2025), and Ken Lewis (assistant football coach; effective 11/12/2025). The board also approved an agreement for an independent educational evaluation for a student at a cost of $4,500.
On policy, the board approved first readings of Policy 102 (academic standards), Policy 103 (discrimination/harassment affecting students), Policy 104 (discrimination/harassment affecting staff) and Policy 105 (curriculum). Policy committee members said Policy 102 incorporates PSBA and state standard updates for 2025–26, and Policy 103 and 104 will list the chief human resources officer as the district’s Title IX manager. The committee will review whether to list four PSBA-recommended observances or all eight referenced in Pennsylvania code before second reading.
All motions passed by voice vote. The board scheduled further committee review and will act on second readings as required by policy.
Next steps: administration will implement approved salary changes and process personnel transitions; policies will return for second readings after committee follow-up.
