Board approves licenses, bonds and traffic changes in brief Nov. 18 session

Norwood’s Board of Selectmen on Nov. 18 approved a package of routine and consequential items, including business‑license transfers, event permits, traffic‑safety recommendations and authorization to issue bonds for water infrastructure.
Approvals recorded during the meeting included: a one‑day liquor license and related consent items; a class‑2 dealer license for Bach Luxe (d/b/a Bach Maserati) at 386 Neponset St.; a transfer of a restaurant license to OMADI Restaurant Norwood LLC (d/b/a Friendlies) at 1469 Boston Providence Highway; and the Department of Public Works’ request to host Wreaths Across America at Highlands and Old Parish cemeteries on Dec. 13. All motions passed unanimously.
On capital finance, the board voted to authorize bonds or notes in an aggregate principal amount not to exceed $13,976,950 for planning and construction of drinking-water infrastructure. The motion cited Massachusetts General Laws, chapters 29C and 44, and a town‑meeting vote on Nov. 13, 2023 (Article 8). Board members agreed to sign the associated certificates and loan note; the interim note related to the project was described at the meeting as bearing no interim interest.
Traffic recommendations from the Traffic Safety Advisory Committee were also adopted. The approved changes include a two‑way stop under existing signs on Vernon Street, a single stop sign on Alpine Street in the direction toward Oldham School, and a “No turn on red when pedestrians present or school in session” designation at Washington and Short streets. Two late items — a concrete bus‑stop sidewalk at Washington & Hill and relocation of an outbound bus stop — were also added and approved.
Motions on the consent agenda and licenses were moved and seconded on the record and carried unanimously. The meeting adjourned following approval of the remaining items.
What’s next: Several items (including bond execution paperwork and traffic‑sign installations) will move to staff for implementation; the manager said more related updates are expected at December and January meetings.
