PSC approves Entergy special contract to continue serving Nucor's Flowood facility

Miss Myrick, a commission staff presenter, said Entergy's filing (filed Sept. 30) qualifies as a special contract under Mississippi Code '''77-3-35 and the commission's Rule 27 because it recovers the incremental cost of service, contains a competitive price to retain the customer and yields a contribution margin that would benefit Entergy's other retail customers. "Therefore, staff recommends approval," Myrick said.
Commissioners had no substantive questions during the brief presentation; a motion to approve the proposed order was moved, seconded and carried on a voice vote.
The order approving the amendment formalizes Entergy's continued service arrangement with Nucor and reflects the staff finding that the contract achieves the statutory goals for special contracts. The commission did not attach additional conditions during the meeting.
