The Shawnee County Board of County Commissioners on Dec. 1 approved a slate of routine financial and procurement measures, including $2,285,733.27 in vouchers and multiple vendor contracts and vehicle purchases.
County Clerk Lisa Schmidt reported the voucher total and highlighted a $495,903.12 payment to XYBIX Systems Inc. for a 911 center console project paid from ARPA SLFRF interest funds. After a brief staff presentation the board voted to approve the vouchers. The motion was moved and seconded and passed 3 to 0.
The board also approved correction orders and a series of procurement awards for the county’s Solid Waste division: a half-ton pickup to Laird Noller Ford for $36,000 (including trade-in); a class-5 truck with mini OTR bed to Shawnee Mission Ford for $184,763 (including trade-in); three front-loader trash trucks to Truck Component Services for $572,937 (including trade-in); two rear-loader trash trucks to Truck Component Services for $422,196 (including trade-in); and two roll-off trucks to Elliot Equipment Company for $357,604 (including trade-in). Solid Waste Director Bill Sutton told commissioners the fleet purchases came in about $20,500 under the budgeted amount and that purchases are funded from the enterprise solid waste fund.
Other approved contracts included an upgrade of six existing door locks to electronic access control systems for the Community Corrections office at a cost of $16,340, an annual New World software maintenance agreement for the corrections division for $20,160.92, and an emergency purchase with Samco Mechanical for $76,999.40 to repair a water line break at a detention facility. Each of those measures was moved, seconded and approved unanimously.
The board also completed the second reading and adopted home-rule resolution HR 2025-3, establishing policy and procedures for economic development incentives. Later in the meeting commissioners entered an executive session for attorney-client contract negotiations related to the Manor Conference Center; they returned saying no action was taken and adjourned.
Votes recorded on the record for routine motions were unanimous, with the board indicating 3–0 tallies on the motions reported.
