The Rice Lake Area School District wellness committee reported to the board on Oct. 13 that it completed a triennial WellSAT self-assessment and identified policy gaps where district practices existed but were not yet codified. Committee members said they will re-review items scored 0 or 1 this coming spring, then forward recommendations to the policy committee for review and, afterward, to the full board for policy updates ahead of the next assessment.
The committee noted staff reminders and communication plans (principal reminders, midyear email to staff) and discussed possible wellness incentives modeled on prior insurance-sponsored activities (for example, a bingo-style incentive with prizes). The committee also announced proposed member additions: Janelle Gritzmacher, Aaron Johnson and Courtney Foss.
Separately, the board unanimously proclaimed Oct. 13–17 National School Lunch Week, as designated by the School Nutrition Association, following a motion and second and a voice vote recorded in the meeting transcript.
