"The applicant is requesting an exception to allow 3 borrow pits totaling approximately 38 acres," Miss Tanya said during the staff presentation, and recommended approval "with the following conditions" spelled out to the board.
Staff said the approval is conditioned on adherence to the site plan on file with the Division of Planning and Development; that the director or designee may authorize technical adjustments discovered during development; that deviations exceeding the submitted borrow pit applications will require review by the Division of Engineering; and that excavation must be completed within five years (as stated in the borrow pit application) or upon completion, whichever comes first. Staff also noted the requirement to follow the parish code provision cited in the staff report (the transcript cites a section of the parish code of ordinances but the transcripted numbering is unclear) and referenced a letter of no objection from Consolidated Gravity Drainage District No. 1 West Calcasieu. A runoff-management plan will be required unless an appropriate waiver is granted by the Division of Engineering.
