The State Board of Education voted on Oct. 3 to authorize the Nebraska Department of Education to contract for an early-childhood integrated data system known as eKIDS, a platform staff said is intended to combine existing administrative records to evaluate early-childhood program effectiveness.
Lane Carr, the department's administrator for the Office of Policy, told the board eKIDS would not collect new personal data but would link data already maintained across agencies — including childcare subsidy and eligibility records held by the Department of Health and Human Services, Medicaid and SNAP/WIC usage, IDEA Part C early intervention records, Head Start participation and state pre-K program data —…
