Committee approves forwarding CDBG-DR subrecipient agreement to buy equipment for Lewis Miller Career & Technical High School

The finance committee recommended the full board approve a resolution authorizing the superintendent or the board president to sign a subrecipient agreement to accept Community Development Block Grant—Disaster Recovery funding from the Terrebonne Parish consolidated government.

A district official said the consolidated government is the direct recipient of the grant and the district’s subrecipient share will be about $2,600,000 to replace instructional equipment and supplies for Lewis Miller Terrebonne Career and Technical High School when the program moves to the renovated Fletcher campus. “Our share of the funding that they received will be about $2,600,000,” the superintendent said.

Board members asked who would manage procurement and accountability. Staff said both the parish and the district will share responsibility for documentation and audits; the district will select equipment in consultation with TCT teachers and local businesses and will not install purchases until the new building is ready, though some items may be purchased early and stored.

Committee members also confirmed that CSRS is the consolidated government’s grants-management company and that All South is assisting the district on its side.

Motion to forward the subrecipient agreement to the full board was made by Mr. DeHart and seconded by Becky Breaux; the committee recorded no objections and approved forwarding the authorization for full-board consideration.
