Unidentified presenter S7 said the grant aims to “launch mobile farmer markets to bring fresh locally sourced food to school campuses and our community sites,” to create learning labs for students in culinary arts and sustainability, and to expand access to nutritious regional foods. Roberto, the district nutrition coordinator (S8), told trustees that partnering with school sites could address attendance challenges at an existing Maywood farmers market and provide students with opportunities to help run markets and develop recipes.
