OMA will add in-room public comment to January meeting; rulemaking comment period opens Dec. 1

The Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority announced two public-engagement steps at its Nov. 19 Executive Advisory Council meeting: the agency will add an in-room public-comment agenda item to the Jan. 23, 2026, meeting, and it opened a formal public comment period for permanent rules that runs Dec. 1 through 5 p.m. Jan. 7, 2026.
Director Danielle proposed adding a standing public-comment slot to each 2026 meeting and described her prior caution stemming from threats and litigation during her tenure. "Good government is open and transparent," she said, and the council agreed to place a public-comment item on the January agenda and to set sign-in and time-limit procedures at that meeting.
Separately, Ashley Kroll, OMA rulemaking staff, said the permanent rule comment window begins Dec. 1 and a public hearing is scheduled for Jan. 7 at 9 a.m. in Room 535 at the Capitol. Kroll said the rules are limited to statutory changes passed this year and minor streamlining of lab testing and administrative hearings.
OMA told licensees it will post rule documents and email guidance ahead of the comment period and encouraged stakeholders to review materials before the hearing. The council did not change rule text at the meeting; comments will be collected through the Dec. 1–Jan. 7 period and heard verbally on Jan. 7.
