The committee chair said members re-elected a chair at an Aug. 19 meeting, reviewed the evaluation timeline tied to the district administrator contract renewal in January and "thought we're gonna leave the matrix unchanged, but they thought, we maybe should add a couple of, you know, not observed options on a few of the questions" to avoid skewing results when a board member has not seen a behavior in question.
Discussion among board members reflected differing views about whether 'not observed' should replace 'not applicable' in some cases; one member asked how evaluation items could fairly assess new board members who "haven't even really spent that much time around Randy." The committee reported it will distribute the evaluation in October and encouraged completion. The chair noted future committee meetings will move to closed session because they will discuss individual employee performance and therefore cannot be held in open session.
At the end of the public portion of the meeting the board moved into closed session under Wisconsin Statutes 19.85(1)(f) to approve closed-session minutes; the motion was made, seconded and roll call votes were recorded (members announced 'yes') and the board convened closed session.
