Revere appointment subcommittee confirms several mayoral picks; one nomination placed on file

The Revere appointment subcommittee met Nov. 24 and confirmed a slate of mayoral appointments, including the reappointment of Ellie Vargas to the Disability Commission and multiple appointments to the Parks & Recreation Commission.

Ellie Vargas introduced herself and said she has served on the commission for about two years and been active in local advocacy; Councilor Novosulski and others endorsed her reappointment. The subcommittee voted to confirm her.

The subcommittee also confirmed mayoral nominees to the Parks & Recreation Commission: Nicholas Govaine, who described nearly a decade of officiating experience and a finance/data-analytics background; Jacqueline Damiano, who cited a master's degree focused on inclusion and local school involvement; Wilson Correa, who described many years coaching youth sports; Natalia (listed in the record with variant spellings Adagna/Ardagna) with collegiate coaching experience; and John Shannon Bianchi, who cited municipal service and land-use experience. Each nominee was introduced, received brief endorsements from councilors and was confirmed by the subcommittee.

A separate mayoral communication for David Leary was discussed; Leary acknowledged he was not a Revere resident and the subcommittee placed that item on file rather than confirming the appointment. Committee members noted residency requirements for appointments and directed the clerk and sponsor to follow up.

All confirmed appointees were told to "do a good job for the city." The subcommittee adjourned following the appointments.
