Board members moved the resolution and voted by voice to approve it after brief remarks recognizing Julia Bonaparte Ennis’s work. "This is a beautiful gesture," said Board member Vivian, who described the scholarship as meaningful to families of students with special needs. Board member Kathy made the motion to establish the award and Board member Alexandria seconded the motion; the board carried the resolution by voice vote.
The resolution tasks district leadership with implementing the scholarship in collaboration with Mr. Ennis to finalize award criteria and administration. District staff said they will work with the family at an appropriate time to determine application and selection details. No dollar amount, eligibility rubric or timeline for awarding the first scholarship was specified during the meeting.
The board’s action recognizes the donor intent to continue Julia Bonaparte Ennis’s advocacy and support for students with special needs. District representatives said further implementation details will be coordinated with the family and presented to the board as they are finalized.
