Alice ISD honors students, teachers and staff; Superintendent reports on grants and HR recognition

The Alice ISD board used its Nov. 17 meeting to recognize numerous student and staff accomplishments across campuses.
Coaches and staff honored members of the Alice High School cross country team who qualified for district, regional and state meets, and cited multiple athletes who achieved academic all-district or all-state honors. FFA students who competed at the Jim Wells County Livestock Show and county fair were listed and applauded; several students earned champion and reserve champion distinctions in categories including market steer, swine and poultry.
Superintendent's office announced that Newnan Elementary secured a Coastal Bend Bays grant of up to $7,000 for an outdoor classroom project that includes a structured water feature, learning stations and native-plant landscaping. The recognized staff member who wrote the proposal was thanked publicly.
The board also recognized 26 teachers across district campuses for perfect attendance during the first two six-week grading periods and spotlighted Alice ISD's licensed specialist in school psychology for her work supporting student social and emotional needs. Human Resources staff were likewise acknowledged in connection with a state proclamation recognizing Texas Education Human Resources Day.
These recognitions were presented as part of routine superintendent reports and did not require board action.
