Board approves two new health‑board appointees and multiple reappointments

Northampton County commissioners approved two appointments to the county board of health and several reappointments at their Dec. 1 meeting.
Health department staff presented two applicants: Jessica Newsome, a registered nurse applicant for a nursing-discipline seat; and Dr. Matthew S. Edwards, an out-of-county applicant submitted to fill an optometrist discipline position where the statute allows out-of-county representation. The board moved and approved both appointments to take effect Jan. 1, 2026.
The board also approved reappointments for Christy Berry, Nicole Howell, Jordan White, Ruth Moody and Ben Moses for additional three‑year terms starting Jan. 1, 2026. The motions to approve the appointments and reappointments were seconded and carried.
