On facilities, the administration proposed combining agenda items e, f, g, h and j (excluding item i) so the district could proceed to design for several campus projects, including classroom additions to replace portable buildings. The board approved the recommendation; administration said the approvals will trigger RFQs for architects and initial design work.
Board members debated agenda item I, a proposed six‑classroom addition at Perrin, and ultimately voted to table that item indefinitely while asking staff to develop a more comprehensive plan for Perrin rather than a six‑classroom add.
The board accepted the lowest responsive bid of $964,000 from She Builds Roofing & Construction LLC for Punctitula High School roof removal and replacement. Members asked whether the prior installation was the subject of litigation; administration said the prior installation is in litigation and that the new contract includes allowances for deck replacement and parapet repairs.
A contentious exchange arose over the Champ Cooper phase‑2 design. Several board members urged adding capacity beyond the recommended 10 classrooms; one member said, "I think the community of Champ Cooper got shafted on this one." The board majority approved proceeding with the court‑approved design now and reserved the option to pursue larger additions in a later phase.
The board also approved committee recommendations on capital outlay procurement — notably switching metal detector vendors to save roughly $40,000 while increasing available pairs — and approved substantial completion on several gym HVAC projects. The meeting concluded after a brief executive session to consider litigation, approval of board minutes and adjournment.
