The Terrebonne Parish Council on Nov. 19 voted to rename the Hancock Whitney Bank building the Don Schwab Center of Business and Government in honor of the late Don Schwab.
Donald Schwab Jr., speaking for the family, thanked the council and said his father loved the parish and its residents. Family members joined councilmembers in recounting Schwab’s community and coaching contributions; one councilmember described Schwab as "a caring and compassionate parish president" and said "Terrebonne Parish is a better place because of Don Schwab."
The motion to rename the building passed unanimously on the council floor. Council leaders indicated the name change will be implemented by amending the relevant parish code sections and signage.
The council held a brief reception-style exchange with family members before returning to the regular agenda.
