Administration introduced a district balanced scorecard on Dec. 1 designed to measure the strategic plan across four priority areas: academic achievement; student engagement and wellness; collaboration and partnerships; and staff investment and impact.
Assistant director of analytics Erica Algren said the balanced-scorecard work ties outcome metrics (for example, literacy growth, assessment proficiency, participation in after-school programs) to implementation metrics that track adult actions and inputs. Algren said outcome metrics will be collected quarterly and that department and school plans feed up into the district-level tool.
Board members asked practical questions: how parents will access proficiency information, whether the board will have an interactive link to follow data changes, and how the scorecard will be presented publicly. Administration said a PDF version is currently in the board packet and staff plan to develop a public-facing dashboard with a smaller set of vital metrics for community consumption; a deeper, interactive review for the board is planned for January.
The presentation is informational; administration asked board members for input on which measures they wish to monitor regularly.
