Woodfin Town Council approved an application to rezone a 0.23-acre property at 1 View Street from Community Shopping to R-7 Residential.
Planner Rob Weed presented the request on behalf of applicant Rob Weed (representing RHW Investments LLC, owner Ricky Hurley). He said the parcel sits east of Elk Mountain Road near Woodfin Water and that the future land-use map calls the area Residential 1, making R-7 a better fit. Weed noted that neighbors reacted positively to removal of an abandoned house on the parcel in recent weeks and that the Planning Board unanimously recommended approval (6–0).
No members of the public signed up to speak during the public hearing. Councilmember Phil (speaker 6) moved to approve the rezoning and recited findings that the request was reasonable, in the public interest and consistent with the Woodfin Together comprehensive plan; the motion passed by voice vote.
Staff said the rezoning would bring the small area’s zoning into closer alignment with its existing development pattern and reduce the potential for disruptive commercial uses.
