The Saint Tammany Parish Board of Adjustment voted Dec. 2 to ask parish staff to prepare a resolution (or ordinance recommendation) for the parish council to require continuing education for board members.
Members discussed prior training and recommended four hours annually, saying additional training would help with recurring procedural and legal issues that sometimes lead to appeals to the 22nd Judicial District. Mister Bloch moved to request that staff draft a resolution/ordinance to require four hours of continuing education annually (or whatever staff recommends); Mister Swindell seconded and the motion carried.
Staff said the department director is already working on scheduling training and that the board's formal request will help move an ordinance or council resolution forward. The board asked staff to proceed so members will have an opportunity for regular annual training.
