Middletown board approves personnel, financial items and joins county health grant

At its Nov. 21 workshop, the Middletown City School District Board of Education approved multiple routine action items, including personnel memoranda, financial items, a change order, and a memorandum of understanding to join a county health grant partnership.
The board approved personnel memoranda (12b and 12c), financial memorandum 13d, special services memorandum 11e and change order 8f after motions and roll-call votes. A district representative explained the MOU for "Creating Healthy Schools and Communities" is an invitation from the Orange County Department of Health to join a grant-based initiative with six partner districts to support movement and nutrition initiatives; the representative said the MOU carries no cost to the district and requires a quick turnaround for signatures.
Trustees also voted to move the district’s local budget vote meeting date from April 23 to April 21 to accommodate BOCES schedules and military ballot timelines; a trustee who serves on the BOCES board explained the scheduling reason and the board approved the date change.
These items passed by voice or roll call during the meeting. The board then returned to workshop business and deferred additional personnel or policy discussions to the workshop session.
