Council asks MassDOT to mark 'no‑block' boxes, re-time signals and study pedestrian changes at key Revere intersections

Councilor Mackenna, joined by Councilors Kogliano and Novasleski, said drivers frequently block the Bennington/Crescent intersection and the DFW Parkway/Beach Street crossing, creating safety and school-traffic problems. A separate motion asked MassDOT to synchronize signals on Wintrop Avenue where current timing leaves long queues through several lights. Council members said improved timing could reduce backups to the police station and other choke points.
Council also asked planning, DCR, MassDOT and the traffic commission to evaluate reducing pedestrian crossing phases at Cample Avenue/Revere Beach Parkway to improve vehicle flows and to account for access to a new fire station.
Councilors indicated these are requests to state agencies and city departments; any physical changes will require MassDOT approval and further traffic engineering review.
