"The paid family leave may pay 55 to 90% of a person's income," an administrator explained while discussing options for employees to top off pay using accumulated sick leave; the board agreed employees should be able to choose whether to apply sick leave in conjunction with paid leave.
The handbook was also updated to clarify meal reimbursements: a recommended split (breakfast $10, lunch $15, dinner $25) that adds to a $50 daily maximum, and reimbursements require receipts. The board added a clarification that overnight travel reimbursement applies only to travel outside a 50‑mile threshold. The proposed handbook language was approved in a motion and vote.
Administrators said the changes were timed to reflect laws taking effect Jan. 1 and to simplify payroll deductions and expense processing. The board’s motion to adopt the handbook changes carried by voice vote.
