Socorro ISD signs MOU with Project ADAM and El Paso Children's Hospital to standardize cardiac response

Socorro ISD on Wednesday approved a memorandum of understanding linking the district with Project ADAM and El Paso Children’s Hospital to standardize cardiac emergency response across campuses and provide CPR/AED training for staff.
District nurse manager Juliana Tarango said the partnership will help the district meet requirements of recently passed state legislation regarding cardiac emergency preparedness well before the 2027 deadline and align campus plans with Project ADAM’s national standards. "This partnership will actually help us strengthen our district's emergency preparedness for sudden cardiac events," Tarango said.
Project ADAM (Automatic External Defibrillators in Adam’s Memory) is a national nonprofit that advocates standardized cardiac emergency response plans and AED availability in schools; El Paso Children’s Hospital is the Region 19 affiliate bringing the program locally. Trustees voted to approve the MOU and congratulated staff for engaging in a regional standardization effort.
