After returning from nonpublic, the Brentwood Select Board processed motions to reopen several departmental budgets to reflect a uniform wage adjustment.
The board individually reopened budgets including the town clerk, tax collector, planning board, highway (including snow & ice), cemetery, and welfare. The planning board’s chair submitted an email from Doug Marino thanking the board for prior support and requesting reapproval; the planning board’s budget and the highway budget (which incorporated culvert adjustments) were approved after brief review. Town staff noted a FICA calculation error that was corrected in the revised packet.
For each reopened budget the board asked whether the only change was the 2.8% wage adjustment; in most cases the adjustment was the primary revision and did not change bottom‑line totals materially. Where additional line items were separated (for example, overtime or lease coverage lines in the town clerk packet) the board recorded those new lines but noted the overall totals remained consistent with the correction.
Motions were made and seconded for individual budgets and members voted in favor as read. The board also discussed previous decisions made by the budget committee and upcoming hearings for other departments. Several small numeric discrepancies (e.g., 2.83% vs 2.8%) were noted as trivial and adjusted.
Next steps: The revised budgets will be forwarded to the budget committee and the board will continue to reconcile any remaining calculation items before final adoption.
