The Walton County Technical Review Committee on Nov. 19 conditionally approved a minor amendment to Lot 3296 in Burnt Pine East to add roughly 0.07 acres from the adjacent Burnt Pines Golf Course.
Staff said the change — part of the larger Destin DRI area — is a simple reconfiguration of the lot and involves a minimal reduction of open space that will be reflected in the next biannual report. Rosanna (staff) said there were only minor planning comments and that environmental-review comments remain outstanding. "This is a simple reconfiguration ... they're just adding 0.07 acres," staff said.
Dean Burgess of Emerald Coast Associates, who represents the applicant, told the committee the residential parcel is vacant and that the development team has responded to planning comments. "0.07 acres isn't gonna put a dent in it," Burgess said, referring to roughly 30–35 acres of remaining open space in the area.
During public comment, Tabitha Howard asked whether the county was enforcing older settlement agreements and Notices of Proposed Change (NOPC) tied to Sandestin's DRI; staff and the applicant said the project complies with the currently applicable NOPC and the DEP 62-25 stormwater criteria and that detailed stormwater review is handled in the environmental process.
The committee moved, seconded and voted to conditionally approve the amendment to move to a development order once outstanding comments — including environmental review — are satisfactorily addressed.
