Board members pressed for details about ADA requirements, staffing and the financing timetable. Speaker 2 said the county had sought legal input and confirmed that an elevator would not be required under ADA rules for the renovation as proposed. Commissioners also discussed operational benefits: consolidating equipment stored in multiple locations across the county would free heated space at the county shop and reduce recurring rent costs.
Speaker 3 moved to accept the two purchase agreements with the 2025 payment of $101,000 and the 2026 payment of $499,000; Speaker 2 seconded. The motion passed in roll call vote.
The board and staff noted the purchase is contingent on the grant process: Speaker 2 said the county would learn grant approval around Feb. 6, 2026, and that the grant did not allow reimbursement for expenses paid before award. The owners agreed to the proposed payment schedule, the presenter said.
Next steps: Moore Engineering will continue design work required for the grant application and the county will finalize the purchase paperwork. No immediate funding beyond the approved agreements was allocated at the meeting.
The motion was adopted and recorded; commissioners closed discussion and moved on to other agenda items.
