Summary
All bid packages for the new high school and middle school have been awarded and the guaranteed maximum price (GMP) is set; site excavation and foundation work are underway. Library design and reimbursement paperwork are progressing and construction documents are near completion.
Town staff reported that all bid packages for the new high school and middle school projects have been awarded and the guaranteed maximum price and alternates have been approved by the council, locking in the contract values. Site excavation is substantially complete on parts of the site, foundations are in place on the west side and steel erection and decking have begun; crews are moving work from west to east across the site.
The ES/Valley middle school complex final GMP was approved and the administration said some funds were moved from the high-school project to cover ad alternates identified during value‑engineering. Underground mechanical, electrical and plumbing coordination is ongoing and contractors are preparing the schedule for spring 2026 work.
On the library, staff said the reconciled budget based on design drawings has been completed and construction documents should be finished shortly. The town has submitted an application for reimbursement to the state and staff explained they must split a previously approved construction manager at‑risk contract into preconstruction and construction portions to satisfy the state’s reimbursement request; the scope and dollar amount remain unchanged.
Council accepted the updates and asked questions about schedule, underdrain work, and procurement.
