Middletown Fire Department promotes three and welcomes new hires

Robert J. McCall, the town’s fire chief, opened a promotional ceremony before the council to recognize recent promotions and new hires in the Middletown Fire Department. "Nights like tonight matter," McCall said, thanking the council and community for attending as he announced the personnel changes.
McCall said Battalion Chief William Homer was promoted from captain after more than 18 years with the department. "He’s climbed each step the right way," McCall said. Captain Nate McGilvery, with nearly 19 years of service, was promoted and will continue to oversee marine rescue response and in‑house marine training. Lieutenant Connor Gunning was honored for his role elevating the department’s EMS program and continuing a family tradition of service.
McCall also introduced new full‑time firefighters and academy recruits, including Zachary (Zach) Hook, Henry Chianive, Matthew Hook and Cameron Neary; he said the academy class will graduate Dec. 19, 2025. The chief framed the promotions and hires as "investments in our future" and emphasized standards and mutual support among members.
The council received the communication and moved on to the regular agenda.
