PAL raises $34,872 to renovate softball fields; work planned pending contractor quotes

The Parents and Leaders (PAL) organization has raised $34,872 to support a multi-phase renovation of the district's softball facilities, administrators told the board.
Dr. Zirpoli described the planned priorities in order: a full infield renovation of the front softball diamond used for PAL and school games; replacement and upgrading of fencing (including 8-foot black foul-line fencing and dugout fencing); minor repairs for the back diamond (pitcher's mound, home plate); and purchase and installation of a double-door storage shed partitioned for PAL and high-school athletics use.
Contractors are being consulted for updated quotes to inform the final scope, and the administration said it hopes to break ground before the ground freezes this winter; if that is not possible, work would begin in March ahead of the spring playing season. After this initial scope, PAL will reassess whether a full renovation of the backfield is needed.
What’s next: the donation is scheduled for approval on the agenda, quotes will determine timing and scope, and the district will proceed with the work consistent with contractor availability and weather.
