Residents near 3004 6th Avenue urged the Troy Board of Zoning Appeals to delay action on a proposed conversion that neighbors said would over‑densify the property and worsen parking and safety issues.

Joyce Daniels, who said she has lived adjacent to the property for 44 years, told the board she and neighbors are "opposed to it" and described ongoing construction activity they said has already cleared the basement. "They're trying to put 8 apartments in that 3 family house," Daniels said, raising questions about where cars would park, whether the units would be small and whether maintenance access through the gangway would be provided.

Neighbors also recounted recurring problems at the property since a fire three years earlier, including squatters and repeated ownership changes. Board members and staff emphasized the BZA handles the variance question and advised residents to contact code enforcement or building permits for interim permit concerns. Several members said the applicant's absence made it difficult to resolve key factual questions, and the board voted to table the item until the first meeting in January so the applicant can appear and staff can confirm notices and documentation.

The board recorded the motion to table, with one member abstaining because they had not been present for the full discussion. The decision pauses zoning action and gives staff and the applicant time to address the neighbors' stated safety, parking and access concerns.
