Socorro ISD trustees certify Nov. 4 tax-ratification results; Proposition A fails

Socorro ISD trustees met in a special session on Nov. 17, 2025, and adopted an order canvassing the returns of the Nov. 4 tax-ratification election, declaring Proposition A failed after vote totals were read into the record.
Mister Blanco, who read the official tabulation to the board, reported early-voting totals of 3,572 votes in favor of Proposition A and 3,495 votes against, with 126 undervotes and 2 overvotes. On election day the district recorded 3,546 votes for and 4,483 votes against Proposition A, with 141 undervotes. "As a result, proposition a did fail," Blanco said, announcing final totals of 7,118 votes in favor and 7,978 opposed and a total of 15,365 votes cast.
The presiding officer moved "to adopt an order canvassing the returns and declaring the results of the 11/04/2025 tax ratification election." The motion was seconded by Miss Macias. After a prompt for discussion, those present voted in favor and the presiding officer stated the motion passed.
The board noted there were no public-comment speakers for the meeting. The special session was livestreamed and archived to the district’s YouTube channel and board website. The meeting was adjourned at 5:34 p.m.
The canvass order and the vote totals were added to the official record and will be retained by the district as part of the election documentation.
