Walker High MCJROTC honored after winning All‑Services Raider National championship

The Livingston Parish School Board on the evening recognized Walker High School’s Marine Corps JROTC team for winning the All‑Services Raider Nationals, marking the first time a Marine Corps JROTC team has taken the all‑service title.
“First of all, thank y'all very much to the board and for the recognition for these cadets right here,” Lieutenant Colonel Tubbs said, thanking the board and families and describing the physical, multi‑event competition. Tubbs said the six‑event Raiders competition draws the best teams from all service JROTC programs and is “probably one of the most physically difficult things that Walker High School offers.”
Tubbs highlighted team and individual results: the team won several events, the 4K team mountain run was especially difficult, and two cadets — Braden Manuel (third in the Ultimate Raider individual event) and Sarah Duncan (fourth) — were singled out as the program’s top competitors. Tubbs said the squad trained through the summer and adapted to cold, mountainous terrain at the national meet.
Board member Caitlin Cochran introduced the recognition and the board presented certificates and invited the cadets, staff and families for a group photograph. The superintendent and board members praised the program’s coaches and parents for supporting travel and training.
The board noted plans to honor the cadets and acknowledged the team’s role representing Walker, Louisiana, at a national level. No formal board action beyond the recognition was taken.
