The Tiburon Town Council elected Vice Mayor Wellner as mayor and Isaac Nicksar as vice mayor during its Dec. 3 meeting.
A council member nominated Vice Mayor Wellner for mayor; the nomination was seconded and the council approved the nomination by roll-call vote (Council member Fredericks, Council member Nick Farr, Vice Mayor Wellner and Mayor Thier voting yes; Council member Ryan absent). After the vote, Wellner thanked colleagues and outlined priorities for the coming year, naming traffic solutions, parks implementation and continued leadership on sustainability and the climate action plan as focal areas. “I think this is the year to really develop a solution for our traffic problems,” Wellner said.
The council then nominated Isaac Nicksar for vice mayor; the nomination was seconded and approved by a roll call. Nicksar thanked his colleagues and said he looked forward to learning from members with prior mayoral experience.
Outgoing Mayor Thier offered brief remarks reflecting on the year’s work, including a fire forum with Belvedere, adoption of green building reach codes, climate efforts and the local ban on the sale of tobacco products. “Being mayor this year was a great, fun opportunity,” Thier said, thanking colleagues, staff and local reporters for covering town business.
During reports the council announced that Sherry Meads will start Monday as the town’s new community development director and thanked interim director Neil Toft for his service and overlap during transition. The council adjourned with holiday greetings.
