Sherman County commissioners approve routine bills, equipment purchases and facility repairs

The Sherman County Board of Commissioners approved several routine financial and operational items during its meeting.

Commissioner (S2) moved to pay county bills totaling $307,324.88, which the board approved by voice vote. The board also moved the county road viewing to Aug. 29 at the conclusion of the commission meeting.

On capital purchases, the board approved a $55,000 purchase of a landfill tractor after Commissioner (S2) made the motion and it was seconded and approved. Commissioners discussed fire department equipment activity, including plans to reuse a purchased cabin box at the training center and to replace a cab/chassis on a previously purchased vehicle.

The board approved facilities repairs for the county jail. Commissioners accepted a bid from a heating and air conditioning contractor to replace four furnace units in the jail after a facilities review recommended replacing all four units at once to reduce labor costs. The board also accepted Jacob Police's electrical bid for $1,848.50 to add dedicated circuits and outlets to support commissary tablet charging and shop use.

Procedural motions, including approval of the posted agenda and minutes, passed by voice vote. The meeting adjourned by unanimous voice vote.
