City staff and council members used the Ward 1 meeting to promote hiring opportunities, upcoming community events and a new financial‑literacy partnership.

Deputy Director Lewis said the city is hiring for an animal control officer, master and senior police officers and firefighter‑paramedics/EMTs. Candidates should apply through the City of Forest Park website under Human Resources → Job Opportunities.

Recreation program coordinator Doc Martin reviewed upcoming community events: a Thanksgiving Tailgate on Nov. 23 at Star Park with free hot meals and haircuts starting at 2 p.m.; the Holiday Extravaganza parade Dec. 6 beginning about 5 p.m. on Main Street and ending at Star Park; Breakfast with Santa on Dec. 13 at 10 a.m. with pony rides; and a Legacy Holiday event Dec. 19 at 5 p.m. at 696 Main Street (registration through the senior center required).

Councilwoman Tanisha Dixon announced a turkey giveaway at Star Park on Nov. 25 at 5 p.m., free weekly workouts Tuesdays 6–7 p.m. in the Star Park gym through February (contingent on sponsorship), and a clothes drive at the Council House tomorrow from noon to 2 p.m. She promoted a local program called Elevate for education and job-readiness resources and encouraged residents to subscribe to the city’s Constant Contact list for event notices.

The meeting also included a short financial‑literacy presentation. Financial adviser Lisa Pertit said she focuses on estate planning and trusts to help families avoid probate and transfer wealth to the next generation. She offered contact information and described programming the city is forming to expand financial education at the senior center and elsewhere.
