In his messages to the council on Nov. 25 the county executive thanked council members for their work on the budget and described recent community support efforts coordinated by county staff and partner organizations.
The executive said Resource Cleveland and county welcome-center staff partnered with Starlight Baptist Missionary Church in East Cleveland to assist approximately 150 Congolese families with food, job leads and clothing. He also announced the county would distribute 400 turkeys at Chambers Community Center in East Cleveland and praised local businesses and volunteers, including Playhouse Square restaurateur Ricky Smith, for supporting meals for children.
The executive further thanked members of the Women's Health Commission and finance staff for leading a period-product drive that collected about 16,000 items; donations will be distributed through an organization described in the record as PAD and coordinated with commission volunteers.
The remarks were delivered as part of executive messages at the start of the council's Nov. 25 meeting and preceded a full agenda of referrals, substitutes and votes.
