County clears consent agenda; staff update contract efforts, deadlines

Jeff moved to accept the consent agenda and the motion was seconded; the board voted in the affirmative and the consent agenda passed. Commissioners then discussed outstanding contract language and efforts to find exemplar agreements. Mark said he had filed a FOIA request seeking an agreement Scott Air Force Base has with a provider and that staff have been communicating with the other party to obtain a usable example. "I've asked them for, again, an example of an agreement somewhere else and, haven't received anything," Mark said.
Commissioners raised timing concerns and deadlines; one commissioner asked about the proposed service cutoff date and was told the date proposed was Jan. 1. The board also agreed to update letters for an upcoming legislative breakfast to reiterate support for the K-152 bridge project and for work on the property tax gap; staff said LCDC had provided supporting documentation that could be attached.
Commissioners also thanked staff for the county's annual chili contest and the chair reminded residents about Lansing's Christmas tree lighting at Lansing Middle School at 6 p.m. on Sunday.
What happens next: staff will continue negotiations on contract template details, follow up on the FOIA request, and prepare updated legislative letters for the legislative breakfast.
