At its Dec. 1 meeting, Conway City Council approved several routine items, advanced an annexation on first reading and denied another annexation request after discussion.
The council approved the consent agenda at the start of the meeting without recorded objection. On first reading, the council approved an ordinance to annex approximately '22 1 hundredths of an acre' (transcript wording) at 250 Chevy Chase Drive to allow connection to city utilities; staff recommended approval and noted planning commission will consider zoning upon annexation at a public hearing in January 2026.
Separately, council considered an annexation request for two parcels at 1071 and 1059 Academy Drive. Staff recommended against annexation because the only property likely to require city services was the applicant’s parcel; councilmember Miss Belfant moved to deny the annexation, Miss Butler seconded, and the council voted to deny the request unanimously.
Council also recognized multiple community awards and employee longevity, received planning department growth statistics and the city administrator’s report listing holiday events and technology pilots. No further formal actions were taken on the planning‑department items at this meeting.
