The Conway School District board approved the calendar option that district staff selected. Ginger Campbell, a member of the calendar committee, presented two calendar choices and explained the principal differences: option 1 begins the school year on a Monday and ends on a Friday, while option 2 would begin midweek and require returning after Memorial Day. Campbell said both options meet Arkansas’s minimum instruction requirement of 1,068 hours per year.
Campbell reported that the district-wide staff vote (licensed and classified employees) favored option 1 by roughly 69 percent, and the board moved, seconded, and approved that option by voice vote.
The board did not change instructional-minute calculations and indicated the calendar approved is the one staff recommended; no alternate schedule or additional adjustments were adopted at the meeting.
