At its Nov. 25 meeting the Greene County Board of Commissioners approved a series of routine and project-specific measures including grant applications, a reappointment to a regional authority and a road-maintenance project.
Key actions recorded by the board included:
- Authorization to apply for the state brownfield remediation program for state fiscal-year 2026/2027 (staff indicated counties may receive $1,000,000 allocations in the program and discussed project lists). The board moved and approved authorization to apply.
- Authorization to electronically submit an Ohio EPA Recycle Ohio grant application on behalf of Environmental Services to fund scrap-tire cleanup across the county; staff described it as an annual request and the board authorized submission.
- Reappointment of David Ross to a two-year term on the Greene County Regional Airport Authority through December 2027; board moved and approved the reappointment and discussed whether airport-board term lengths should be revisited.
- Approval of a Jefferson Township road project to chip-seal the edges of Smith, Sutton and Zimmerman Roads; motion made and approved.
- Acceptance of a VOCA federal grant for juvenile court for fiscal year 2026 in the amount of $30,314.05 to cover part of one employee's salary; accepted by motion.
- Approval to expend up to $300 for an appreciation luncheon for records-and-archives volunteers (about 30 volunteers who contributed more than 2,000 hours); motion carried.
- Approval to enter into a new TCAP subsidy grant agreement for adult probation to account for an additional $285,600 in funding.
Each of the above items was moved, seconded and recorded as approved during the meeting. Several items were described as routine or annual by county staff; none required extended debate.
