Greene County honors six inductees into Women’s Hall of Fame

The Greene County Board of Commissioners recognized six inductees to the Greene County Women’s Hall of Fame during its Oct. 2 meeting.
Anne Byrd and representatives of the Hall of Fame presented plaques and invited the honorees to speak. Chris Ball spoke on behalf of his mother, Jane Lee Ball, saying she was raised in Greene County, spent decades teaching at Wilberforce University and was honored posthumously. "Jane Lee Ball was raised in Greene County most of her life...for 30 years she devoted herself to her students," Ball said.
Marcia DeWeese and Amy Rohrbeck described the Beavercreek Historical Society’s living history program that has served thousands of third‑grade students and credited volunteers for sustaining the work. Atreeva Vaughn recounted long involvement in local civic organizations, service on CERT and a 30‑year federal career; she thanked the committee for the honor.
Mayor Pam Conine accepted recognition as an inductee and reflected on 42 years in education, broadcasting and public service, praising community volunteers and public broadcasting.
One honoree, Melissa Littrell, was unable to attend; the board noted her record of public service and said a plaque will be placed. The board moved and approved a resolution honoring the inductees and invited them for a group photograph.
The board and attendees applauded the honorees and the meeting resumed regular business after the photograph.
