The City of Josephine council unanimously approved a resolution canvassing the Nov. 4, 2025 general election and then administered the oath of office to newly elected council members.
Speaker 1 introduced the single agenda item as the "official canvas of the Josephine City general election" and named Resolution 25-11-19 as the vehicle to certify the results. Speaker 2 moved that the council "accept, accept the canvass and adopt" the resolution; Speaker 1 seconded. After the motion, Speaker 1 announced the vote was unanimous.
The motion to adopt the canvass was presented verbally by Speaker 2 as: "I move that we accept, accept the canvass and adopt based on Resolution 20 25 11 19, canvassing." The meeting record shows an inconsistency in how the resolution number was spoken: Speaker 1 earlier referenced "Resolution 25-11-19," while the mover pronounced a different sequence. The council nevertheless passed the motion without objection.
Following the vote, Speaker 1 said the body would adjourn but noted that new council members were to be installed. The meeting proceeded with Speaker 2 administering the oath of office, reciting the traditional phrasing: "Do you solemnly swear that you will faithfully execute the duties of the office of city council of the state of Texas and will to the best of your ability preserve, protect, and defend the constitution and laws of The United States and of this state, so help you God." The ceremony included April, Dr. Pam Sardo, Jane and Alex Esquivel.
No further business was recorded after the swearing-in and the meeting was adjourned.
The resolution title and number used in the meeting record contain a discrepancy in spoken references; the official minutes or the city clerk's written resolution should be consulted for the authoritative citation.
