Board approves tax‑rate certification, staff reimbursements, trips and routine items; recognizes students and educators

The Cornwall‑Lebanon board unanimously adopted a resolution to certify it will not raise the tax rate beyond the department index for 2026–27, approved staff credit reimbursements, food‑service bills and E‑Rate bid authorizations, and recognized students, athletic qualifiers and an Art Educator of the Year.
At the Nov. 17 meeting the Cornwall‑Lebanon School District board moved through several routine but substantive items and public recognitions.
On finance, the board adopted a resolution certifying the district "shall not raise the tax rate for any tax for the support of the Cornwall Lebanon School District for the 2026–27 fiscal year by more than the adjusted index calculated by the Pennsylvania Department of Education." That resolution, moved by Mrs. Carpenter, passed 9–0. Mrs. Carpenter also moved approval of budget transfers under the school code; that motion passed unanimously.
The board approved staff credit reimbursements totaling $15,231.10 and food service fund bills totaling $189,724.40; both motions passed 9–0. The business section also included routine approvals of Sunday facility use requests for youth sports and overnight field trips for competition and orchestra events.
On technology, the board authorized the administration to advertise for E‑Rate mini‑bid procurement of wireless access points and networking equipment for Cedar Crest High School, enabling the district to seek eligible discounts for network upgrades.
Personnel motions included acceptance of separations and leaves, ratification of employment status changes (including Maria Bickel’s move from 50% to 100% curriculum leader with a stated salary of $2,357 in the motion), ratification of pending hires and approval of volunteer coaches; all passed 9–0.
In presentations, the board recognized student and staff achievements: Cedar Crest student council (Ryan Brophy) reported raising "just over $2,000" for the Children's Miracle Network; Andrea Klein was honored as the Pennsylvania Art Education Association elementary Art Educator of the Year; and coaches introduced state qualifiers in golf and cross country, including Travis Furmansky’s state championship performance.
What’s next: the board will hold its reorganization and regular December meeting on Dec. 1 and will relocate January board meetings to South Lebanon Elementary’s LGI as renovations near completion.
