Kimberly Young of Batavia used the public-comment period at the Oct. 20 Board of Trustees meeting to announce her candidacy for the Kane County District 2 seat vacated after the recent death of a county board member.
"I wanted to announce tonight my candidacy for the Kane County District 2 board seat that was recently and sadly vacated as a result of Mr. Berman's passing," Young said, identifying herself as a lifelong member of the Kane County community and a recently retired small-business owner. She told trustees she hopes to earn voters' trust and support.
Young asked trustees and attendees to call her Kim and thanked the board for the opportunity to speak. The public-comment segment was recorded without further discussion or board response.
