Council adopts resolution to release $80,000 in CDBG funds to Tri‑Town Food Bank

Maria Rosa Takuma, the town's CDBG project manager, asked the council on Dec. 3 to release $80,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds that had been awarded in PY22 for Tri‑Town (Tri County) Food Bank operations and related assistance. Takuma said the project work is complete and can be finalized by Dec. 31, 2025, and she provided receipts, donation logs and an accounting of other funding sources that supported the work.
Council members asked whether the town would risk unreimbursed outlays; Sherry Lupoli, the town's new grant writer, explained that CDBG grants are reimbursable and that reimbursements arrive once documentation and deadlines are met. "I've never had any problems getting reimbursement from a CDBG grant as long as the terms were all followed and the deadlines are all met," Lupoli said.
Councilman Martone moved to adopt Resolution 25‑008 to release $80,000 to Tri‑Town; Councilman Pollock seconded, and the motion passed on voice vote.
Next steps: Finance and grant staff will complete the town's paperwork and submit documentation to state and federal CDBG administrators to secure reimbursement to the town following the standard CDBG reimbursement process.
